December 17-21

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We are getting close to Christmas break and have quite a few things coming up in the next two weeks. Here are a few announcements:

Exam week for high school starts on Tuesday, December 18th - Friday, December 21st. High school is dismissed at 12:00 on Wednesday- Friday. If you plan on getting your elementary student early those days please let us know so we can make arrangements.

School will dismiss early on December 21st at 11:50 am.

The AISA canned food drive begins today, December 3, and continues through January 25.
 
 PLAS asking each student to please bring $2.00 as a love offering for Mr. Willie and Mr. Ray for Christmas.  Each homeroom teacher is ask to collect the money and bring to the office by  Wednesday.  Thanks for all you do for the students and faculty of PLAS.
 
We are getting our picture made for DHR tomorrow. Please send a hat/elf hat with your child for the picture.
 
We still need 2 desserts from Ms. Sanders Class and two chips from my class for the Christmas party Wednesday.
 
Please don't forget to bring the gift card to swap. Please only put To: A boy or To: A girl.  Each child can bring a drink with a cap on it. PLEASE NO energy drinks!
 
The flu continues to hit our class. Please remind your child to wash their hands.

Also, if a student misses Thursday or Friday they do not have to make up any work.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We are getting close to Christmas break and have quite a few things coming up in the next two weeks. Here are a few announcements:

December 12th- $5.00 for DHR. Please send cash!
December 14th - $4.00 for our pizza for the Christmas Party. The Christmas party is December 19th.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Here are a few announcements for this week and upcoming weeks:

Monday, December 3, will be the Termite/Pee Wee Banquet at 6:00 pm.

Tuesday, December 4, the JV girls and boys and Varsity girls and boys Basketball teams will travel to Abbeville with a start time of 4:00 pm.

Friday, December 7, the JV girls and boys and Varsity girls and boys Basketball teams will face Glenwood at home with a start time of 3:30 pm.

The AISA canned food drive begins today, December 3, and continues through the month of January.

Thursday, December 6, there will be a PTO meeting at 6:00 pm.

Friday, December 7, the Patriot Marketplace will be set up in the PLAS Cafetorium from 9:00 am until 7:30 pm. 
We will have entertainment at the Marketplace and several vendors will be here with a fantastic  variety of products, so come get some Christmas shopping done with the Patriots!!


We need:
$4.00 for the pizza party by Dec. 14th
$5.00 for the DHR Christmas for the children that need our help by Dec. 12th

The Termite and Pee Wee Banquet will be December 3, 2012.

Veggie orders are due this Friday.


The 4-H Archery Club will meet tonight at 5:30 at the Cattleman’s Park.  This club is for youth ages 9 and up.  For more information, contact the Pike County Extension Office.

This year's Patriot Marketplace will be December 7th from 9:00am to 7:30pm.

The PTO is sponsoring themed gift baskets to be a part of the silent auction. By November 30th, each student needs to bring an item ( no matter how large or small ) to add to our 6th grade basket.

Our 6th Grade theme is Kitchen items.

Each grade level has a different theme, and all the baskets will be on display for the auction throughout the holiday market.

Here are a few announcements for this week:


Due to the Thanksgiving assembly and Pike Liberal Arts serving as host for the AISA Tripleheader at Troy University we will be on a modified schedule and will dismiss all students at noon on Friday, November 16.  Lunch will be served to K4-6th.  There will be afterschool that day.

Thanksgiving holidays will be November 19th- 23rd. NO SCHOOL!! Enjoy your break!

- The Fall Fesival is October 30th from 6 to 8.  There is a letter being sent out in the comunication folder about it.  I need 4 volunteers to work the counrty store.

 This Friday will be Grandparent's Day. Our program will start at 11:00 and the grandparents are allowed to take their grandchild with them.  The student must be checked out through the homeroom teacher. The students have been asked to wear red, white and blue.

October 1 is Teacher in-service day. No school for students.

The week of October 2 - 5, the SGA will be sponsoring an Awareness Week. The following will be the themes for each day:

I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break!!

Here are a few announcements  for this week:

JV and Varsity Cheerleaders:  There will be a meeting to be fitted for uniforms on Wednesday, April 4th, 3:30 in the learning lab.  You must be present, but parents are not allowed.

The District Art Show is Wednesday at Lakeside.  All art project that won 1st and 2nd place need to have their art into Mrs. Goff by tomorrow.

The Blood Drive is next Monday from 8:00 until.

Friday is a school holiday.

Also, if any parent would like to bring snacks for SAT week next week please email let me know.

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. Here are a few updates for this week: 

-- The Tech Trot will be held Saturday, March 17th beginning at 8:00 a.m.  Come out and support the Technology Department.  Volunteers are needed at the water stations on the race route. 

--Pre-registration forms for the 2012-2013 school year went out to parents Friday. Please check with your child to make sure you have one or come by the school office for a replacement if you do not.  This, along with a volunteer form, need to be back to homeroom teachers by March 15th.

--The Yearbook Staff will begin selling yearbooks Monday, March 12th.  Cost is $50.00.

--Please put on your blogs that all art entries for Art Show must be turned into Mrs. Goff and Mrs. Givens by Wednesday, March 14th.  The Art Show will be judged on Wednesday, March 21 and will remain on display until Friday, March 23rd.

--The following is arrangements for Mrs. Shirley:  visitation is Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 and funeral will be Wednesday at 4:00 at Dillard Funeral Home.

School will dismiss early (11:50) on Friday for the Baseball Tournament. There is NO afterschool Friday.

Students remind parents no one is to receive Valentine flowers, stuffed animal, etc. from parents, grandparents, etc. at school on Valentine Day.  Have them sent to your homes.  This includes teachers as well. 

School Science Fair will be Wednesday, Feb. 15th. 

If you have items for the family that lost a child and their home who is related to Mr. Mathews, please bring them to the office.

6th Grade Parents,
                We are so excited about having our Valentines Party on Friday, February 10th. We are asking each student to bring in $2.00 by Thursday to cover the charge of pizza. They also need to bring a Valentine for each student.  We have 17 students in the class.  Also, if we could get a few volunteers to bring sweets, plates and napkins.  Please email me if you would like to volunteer to bring something. Each student needs to bring a drink on Friday for lunch.  Thank you so much for your support.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

Here are a few announcements:

This nine weeks, the 5th, 6th, and 7th graders are piloting an AR program using electronic books.  The option to bring an electronic book to school is only available to these grades at this time.  Students in K4-4th and 8th – 12th may not bring such devices to school.

District Spelling Bee will be in Enterprise this Tuesday. Our representative for 6th grade  is Jensen Garrett. GOOD LUCK!!

Congratulations to our 4-H Club Bake Off winners: Cake-Abby Norman-4th grade;  Cookie-Mary Ramage-4th grade; Pie-Ethan Green-5th grade; and Other-Peyton Sasser-  4th grade.
